Recommended photoshoot locations in Palos Verdes
Hello! I’m Chiharu, a photographer based in Los Angeles and Pasadena. Since I often shoot in the South Bay, I’d love to introduce some of my recommended photoshoot locations in Palos Verdes Estates.
1. Malaga Cove Plaza
One of my most frequent shooting spots in Palos Verdes is Malaga Cove Plaza. I photograph a wide variety of sessions here, including family portraits, Shichi-Go-San, and Seijin-shiki (Coming of Age ceremonies). Built in 1924, this beautiful brick Spanish-style plaza is known as the very first commercial facility in Palos Verdes.
With its bougainvillea-covered walls, fountains, open-air walkways, and charming staircases, there are countless picturesque spots for photography. After the session, you can also enjoy stopping by a cozy café, a cute gift shop, or even a toy store—another reason I highly recommend this location!

2. St Francis Episcopal Church
Another recommended location for photo sessions is the beautiful St. Francis Episcopal Church, known for its striking colorful stained glass. It’s perfect if you’d like to capture both the charm of a church backdrop and the stunning ocean and natural scenery of Palos Verdes.
Within just a five-minute walk from the parking lot, you can enjoy both breathtaking views and the church setting. In spring, wildflowers bloom across the area, allowing you to enjoy gorgeous scenery along with the flowers. Plus, Malaga Cove Plaza is only a five-minute drive away, making it easy to combine both locations in one session!

3. Terranea Resort
Another highly recommended spot is Terranea Resort. Both the hotel’s architecture and the surrounding nature are stunning, making it the perfect location if you’d like to capture a mix of elegant structures and natural scenery. Whether it’s a wedding, Shichi-Go-San, maternity, or family session, you can enjoy a uniquely American atmosphere in your photos.
After the shoot, you can also enjoy dinner or a café at the resort, or take a scenic hike along the oceanfront trails—another great way to make the most of your visit!
